Verdani's eyes flitted briefly to Eryndil, who was watching Anna very closely. Interesting, she thought mildly, and turned her full attention to the woman before her, and nodded at her comment about her queen. She replied to the next comment Anna made.[/i] "I suppose I am lucky, in that I was able to travel as much as I wanted before I was... given some responsibilities. I teach at the University in Pilin en'templa, and went to learn about the kinds of magic that other peoples practice."
Pausing for a moment, she looked into her drink and lifted it, swirling it around a bit. A ghost of a smile played at the corner of her lips when her companion began to answer the question she had asked about the dragon queen. She met Anna's eyes as she listened to her reply, and nodded slightly. "She might like me, eh? Good to know. What you have said is certainly contrary to the impressions I have gotten second- and third-hand from those who have met her. It is good to hear that she likes children. But... Is it only female children?" Verdani knew that she probably should not have added that last question, but could not help it.
Shrugging it off, she actually raised an eyebrow at Anna's question to her. "Curiosity?" Laughing, she continued, "That is a question best not put to one of the Hyandae en'luhta. Our entire society is based on the acquisition and dispersal of knowledge. We are innately curious. Personally, I do not see it as bad, but it depends on the circumstances, cultural perspective, family, individual opinion... It's all relative, really." She stopped herself before she got too abstract, as she had a bad habit of doing at times. Verdani smiled wryly, and took a small sip of her drink. A moment later she became aware of an unspoken tension in the air between Anna and Eryndil, and wondered what its cause was. She studied Anna covertly from the corner of her eye, noticing her frown. Verdani did not react, but merely rested her chin in her hand and looked enquiringly at Anna.[/color][/i]
